It All Started With a Screenshot in a Group Chat

It was a random Tuesday afternoon in early 2025 when my college friend Sara sent a screenshot to our group chat. It was her Rice Purity Test score — a 67 — with just one caption: “Don’t judge me.”

What happened next surprised me.

Within minutes, everyone in the chat was taking the test. Friends were sharing scores, laughing at questions, and arguing about what counted and what didn’t. It was one of those rare moments where a simple online quiz brought a whole group of people together — genuinely and without any awkwardness.

But here’s what bothered me.

I’m a web developer by Profession. I’ve spent years building clean, fast, and user-friendly digital experiences. So when I actually visited the websites hosting this test, I was honestly shocked. They were slow. They were cluttered with aggressive pop-ups. Some looked so sketchy that I wouldn’t even trust them enough to click — let alone share something personal like my purity score.

I looked at Sara and said: “Why does this test — something millions of people clearly love — live on such terrible websites?”

She just shrugged and said: “Nobody’s fixed it yet.”

That was all the motivation I needed.

From a Group Chat Moment to a Platform People Actually Trust

I spent that weekend rebuilding the Rice Purity Test from the ground up. Not to reinvent it — the original 100-question test has been a cultural tradition since Rice University introduced it in 1924, and it deserved to be treated that way. My only goal was to give it a platform worthy of its legacy.

Sara became my sounding board throughout the entire process. Having taken the test at different stages of life — in high school, during freshman orientation, and beyond — she understood exactly what users wanted from the experience. She made sure every decision we made was grounded in what real people feel when they sit down to take this test.

She reminded me that this isn’t just a quiz.

For a lot of people, it’s a moment of honest self-reflection. For others, it’s a bonding experience with friends. And for many college freshmen, it’s one of the very first things they do when they arrive on campus.

That realization changed how we built everything.

Today, Rice Purity Test Hub is visited by thousands of students, teens, and curious individuals every single day — from across the United States and beyond. What started as a frustrated developer and a screenshot in a group chat has turned into something we’re genuinely proud of.

What We Stand For

We’re not here to host just another quiz. We understand that every person who lands on this page is a real human being with a real story — and they deserve a platform built with care, honesty, and respect.

Everything we do is guided by three non-negotiable principles:

Honesty We present the original 100-question Rice Purity Test exactly as it was intended — no altered questions, no inflated scores, no misleading results designed to keep you clicking. What you see is what the test has always been.

Complete Privacy We will never ask for your name, your email address, or any personal information. Your score belongs to you and only you. We don’t collect it. We don’t store it. We never see it. Period.

Respect Without Judgment Our visitors are primarily teens and college students navigating life’s biggest moments. Whether your score is a 97 or an 11, we treat every single person with the same dignity and respect. There are no labels here. No shame. No judgment. Your number is just a number — your story is far more than that.

Who We Are

Rice Purity Test Hub is independently owned and operated. We have no official affiliation with Rice University — we are simply two people who deeply respect the cultural tradition the university created over a hundred years ago, and we wanted to build a platform worthy of that legacy.

I handle all the technical development, design updates, performance optimization, and day-to-day maintenance of the platform. Sara keeps me connected to the real human experience behind the test, reminding me what actually matters to the people who use it.

We are a small team — but we pour an enormous amount of care into every detail of this website. Every improvement we make, every line of code we update, every design decision we finalize is made with one question in mind: “Is this genuinely good for the person on the other side of the screen?”

If the answer is no, we don’t ship it.

A Note to Everyone Who Takes the Test

Your score does not define you.

The Rice Purity Test has always been about self-reflection — a lighthearted way to look at your experiences, not a verdict on your worth as a person. Whether you score a 95 or a 15, that number is simply a snapshot of where you’ve been, not a measure of where you’re going.

We built this platform to feel safe, honest, and completely judgment-free — because that’s what you deserve.

No matter why you found us today, we’re truly glad you did.

Take the test. Own your score. And remember — every number has a story behind it, and yours is worth telling.
